Rachel Sarah became a single mom in 2000, after splitting up with her boyfriend, who was bipolar and struggling with alcoholism. He walked out the door. She grew up. His whereabouts are unknown, although last she heard, he was living in Ireland. As the 28-year-old newly-single-mom of a seven-month-old baby, the thought of dating again gave her cold feet. But eventually, she got her butt back out there and went on over 100 Match.com dates, blind dates, and disaster dates. The only thing that kept her sane while mothering and dating in unison was writing about it. Her first book, Single Mom Seeking: Play Dates, Blind Dates, and Other Dispatches from the Dating World, was published by Avalon/Seal Press in January 2007. Rachel's writing has also appeared in Family Circle, Parenting, Tango, Ms., BabyCenter, Pregnancy, Huffington Post, WashingtonPost.com, and Christian Science Monitor. |
